Hello. I’m a middle-class Korean living in an average family.
My family consists of four people: a father in his 40s, a mother, and two sons, one 11 and one 6.
In Korea, the most common housing type is the apartment, and it’s no exaggeration to say that the majority of Koreans aspire to live in an apartment, investing and saving for it.
My family also lives in an apartment. The median home price in Seoul, the capital of Korea, is 1.2 billion won, so we currently reside in Gyeonggi Province, a region close to Seoul.
Compared to Seoul, housing prices are lower, yet we enjoy a pleasant and educational environment.
Nevertheless, we are working hard and investing to move to an apartment along the Han River, a symbol of Seoul’s affluent neighborhood, within the next 10 years.
The YouTube video below shows the life of an ordinary Korean family of four. This YouTube channel showcases a homeschooling process where mothers meticulously guide their children’s English learning, reducing the cost of private education, which accounts for a significant portion of household expenses.
If you’re curious about how typical Korean mothers communicate with their children, read to them warmly, and homeschool, please watch this video.
While it’s not universally accepted that all Korean families homeschool their children in English, it’s safe to assume that many Korean mothers provide their children with this level of learning environment.
If you’re curious about Korean culture and educational environments, including Korean homes, Korean English study methods, and Korean mothers’ English homeschooling, this video is a valuable resource.
Thank you.
